Community Programs

commuity program Business assistance programs include establishment of rice farms, fish farms, automotive businesses, rubber plantations and local cooperatives. Adaro's input includes advice, training, loans and use of the products of the business entities in their initial stages. This is helped by Adaro's policy to contract out all services to the maximum extent possible and purchase locally whenever possible.

Assistance in the upgrading of the existing community infrastructure is also provided. Most notably this is being undertaken in education and health including equipping schools and hospitals, provision for staff training and considerable assistance to the local agricultural college. Other infrastructure projects include places of worship, sport and recreational facilities and home ownership loans for employees.

Consistent with the community service program is the setting of the highest environmental standards. Land affected by mining is reclaimed as soon as possible and handed back to the local community. The reclamation includes planting of commercial crops, creating fish farms and developing recreational areas. Reclamation is also used as an opportunity for agricultural training.
